Nestled amongst vineyards, sunflower fields, woodland and farmland, our restored cottage, set in 1.75 acres, alongside our farmhouse, has modern accommodation.

Downstairs the open-plan design fitted kitchen area has fridge-freezer, double sink, gas hob, electric oven/grill, dishwasher, washing machine,microwave, good quality cutlery, crockery, glassware and cooking utensils. The lounge area has individual put-away dining tables, 2-seater sofa, 2 armchairs, combi-TV (satellite), DVD player and stone fireplace with log effect electric fire. Off the lounge is the shower room with whb and wc.

Upstairs the bedroom has is a double and a single bed, wardrobe, chest of drawers and bedside tables. Cotton bed-linen is supplied and XL shower towels for adults.

Plese note the ceiling height up here is lower than usual and slopes down in line with the roof giving diminishing head height. The maximum head height under the centre beam is 5'10" and 6'2" directly either side of it. French doors open from the bedroom onto the raised terrace with table and chairs and magnificent views over the local countryside with the hilltop village of Le Puy Notre Dame in the distance. The Cottage has its own side garden with umbrella washing line and barbecue and also own entrance to the back garden and pool area.

All the facilities at Les Deux Chenes are for your use, including the heated pool (May-Sept)and tennis court, indoor games room with table tennis,and outdoor games equipment, but are all shared with the owners and any other guests in the Farmhouse.

Guests renting the Cottage are also welcome to use any of the outside grass areas and enter our B&B guests' Dining Room/Lounge and look at/borrow the books, maps, tourist information, and indoor games kept there.

Our relaxing holiday home can be reached easily within a few hours from all the north coast French ferryports. The nearest is Ouistreham (Caen), 195 miles, and Boulogne is 335 miles. Much of the journey can be done on motorways or dual-carriageways.

Our holiday Cottage is 18 miles south-west of Saumur, a famous chateau town on the River Loire and 35 miles south-east of another famous cheateau town, Angers. Our Cottage Gite in Deux Sevres/Poitou-Charente is on the border with Maine et Loire. Out tiny hamlet, Basse Baffrie, is situated between the pretty chateau town of Montreuil-Bellay (9 miles east), the modern town of Doue la Fontaine (8 miles north) and the market town of Thouars (10 miles south).

1.5 miles away, our nearest village, Bouille-Loretz, has a bakery, butcher, post office, corner type shop, tabac bar and church.
The advent of cheap airfares with Ryanair from UK airports to Poitiers (55 miles) and Tours (75 miles) and Nantes (75 miles) has encouraged many visitors to now fly and then hire a car. Visitors are even flying cheaply to Paris from their local airport and hiring a car from there or taking the fast TGV train from Paris CDG airport to Angers and hiring a car there. New routes now include: EMA to Nantes (Ryanair); Stansted to Nantes (Ryanair); Bournemouth to Nantes (occasional Ryanair summer route only)

Guests traveling from the Midlands or North may chose to take the ferry from Hull to Zeebrugge or Harwich to Hook of Holland.

We have had guests from Ireland travelling ferry from Rosslare to Cherbourg.

The seaside of the Vendee and La Rochelle are approximately 80 miles away.

This lovely Anjou region, known as the 'garden of France' is ideal for walking and cycling. Doue la Fontaine is famous for its beautifully landscaped conservation Zoo, Rose Gardens, Caves and old Troglodyte dwellings.

Near the ancient chateau town of Saumur you can tour and taste at the sparkling wine houses and visit the National Riding Centre to watch the horses being trained for public shows, as well as for the military.The whole area has many chateaux with stunning architecture and are steeped in history such as those at Saumur, Villandry, Ussy, Langais, Azay-le-Rideau, Chinon, Montreuil-Bellay, Brissac Quince, Angers and the Abbey at Fontevraud where Henry II of England, his wife Eleanor of Aquitaine and one of their sons, Richard the Lionheart, are buried.
There is fishing on local rivers and lakes. For the active there are boats/kayaks on the local rivers, a climbing centre, squash, badminton, go-karting, quad-biking and children's activity outdoor adventure centres with a water slide and a pony club within walking distance . There is a sailing school on the Loire at Saumur. Golf Clubs at Saumur, Bauge, Loudon and Angers welcome visitors.

You can be a passenger or pilot at Saumur or Thouars airfields.

The southern side of the Loire Valley has abundant wild life, especially bird life.

All our local towns have a weekly outdoor market. Wine tasting is everywhere and we can arrange for you to visit a local viticulturist who will speak English.

Here at Les Deux Chenes you can swim, play tennis, and table tennis.

Our indoor games-room houses table-tennis, darts, a basket-ball net, and equipment for various outdoor games and inflatables for the pool are also at your disposal.

As 2 Bedroom using optional second en-suite bedroom in the Farmhouse LOW £475/euros 645 per week; MID £500/Euros 675 per week;HIGH £575/Euros 780 p.w; PEAK £650/Euros 880

LOW Season:- Mar. Apr. and from 16th Oct. MID Season:- May and from 18th Sep to 16th Oct. HIGH Season:- 29th May up to 3rd July and from 28th Aug. to 18th Sep. PEAK Season:- 3rd July up to 28th Aug.

There may be additional heating charges in low season and Oct.

MINIMUM RENTAL 3 DAYS although we will only consider less than whole week bookings from 3rd July up to 28th August at the last moment.

DISCOUNT FOR 6 day booking: less 10%. 5 day booking: less 20% 4 day booking: less 30%; 3 day booking less 35%.
